What is a product extension?

Extensions are enhancements to your cover suited to your individual needs. It extends your policy to include additional cover or benefits.

What is the Retail Value Enhancer?

The Retail Value Enhancer provides cover for up to 30% above the retail value of your vehicle as this is often not enough to replace your vehicle due to the high market prices for vehicles. It is determined by calculating the true replacement cost based on current market prices for a similar vehicle.

What is credit shortfall cover?

Credit shortfall cover will protect you in the event that you owe the bank more than what your vehicle is worth. It covers the difference between the vehicle value and what you owe the bank

What is the 4x4 Overland product extension?

The cover for your 4x4 vehicle is extended to include claims such as emergency repairs, equipment, medical expenses, car hire, lost keys, tow-in costs and more.

What to do if I am involved in a motor accident:

  • Do not admit liability or fault or make a promise to pay
  • Gather the following details on the scene:
  1. Names, ID numbers and contact details of any third parties involved (best to take a photo of their driver’s license)
  2. Photos of the scene
  3. Information of all vehicles involved – a good tip is to take a photo of the license discs
  4. The location of the incident
  • To protect your interests and to ensure quality workmanship, we only use approved repairers. Always arrange the towing through by contacting Hybrid Assist (086 166 6823 or 087 80 80 807 and press the emergency option) to ensure that your vehicle is taken to the correct approved repairer.
  • Following the accident, you need to report the incident to the SAPS within 24 hours. This statement will protect your interests and assist us in defending you should any third-party claim arise against you.
  • If you have car hire active on your cover, we will assist you with a rental vehicle while your vehicle is being repaired.
  • To process your claim, the following must be submitted to us within 30 days following the accident:
  1. Full details of all vehicles involved (Make, model and registration numbers)
  2. Full details of all drivers involved (Id numbers, contact numbers and license numbers)
  3. Details of any property damaged where applicable
  4. Names and contact information of any witnesses
  5. SAPS reference number and a copy or picture of the report
  6. Description of the incident

What must I do if my vehicle was stolen?

  • Alert your tracking company and the SAPS (10111) immediately upon discovery
  • Obtain a case reference number from the SAPS. If they did not come out to the scene, you need to open a case at your nearest police station within 24 hours. Take a photo of the police report.
  • Submit your claim to us as soon as possible to start working on getting you into your new wheels. You can do so by contacting us at claims@hybridrisk.co.za by telephone on 087 80 80 807 or by submitting your claim online here
  • If you have car hire on your policy, we will arrange for rental vehicle while we work on settling your claim
  • You will need to provide us with a copy of the vehicle registration document, a copy of your id, an insurer consent form, and the SAPS case number with a picture of the police report.
  • Once this is submitted, you will need to obtain a settlement letter from the bank (if financed) and keep your spare keys available.
  • Once your claim is finalised, we will prepare an agreement of loss for you to sign which you will then need to send back to us together with your spare keys, the original vehicle registration documents and proof of banking
  • The bank will then be settled and the remainder paid out to you.

What to do if my property gets damaged or stolen

  • In the event of theft, robbery, or malicious damage, report all incidents to the SAPS and obtain a case reference number.
  • If you were the victim of a robbery or housebreaking, inform us as soon as possible to assist you with emergency repairs to safeguard your home.
  • For storm, water, flood or geyser claims, contact us to assist you as soon as possible in getting the damage repaired or to make emergency repairs in the meantime.
  • Notify us of your claim by contacting us on claims@hybridrisk.co.za or 087 80 80 807 or contact your broker directly.

  • Submit all information to us pertaining to the loss including details of all property lost or damaged within 30 days following the event.
  • Please note the following guidelines:
  1. Any lost or stolen cell phones or tablets must be blacklisted with the relevant provider and the reference number submitted to us.
  2. In the event of storm or water damage, notify us as soon as reasonably possible in order to mitigate any further loss or damage.
  3. In the event of a fire, alert the local fire department immediately upon discovery. As far as it is safe to do so, take all reasonable steps to prevent further spread of the fire.
  4. In the event of legal liability, inform us immediately of any potential claims which may be made against you. Do not admit fault or liability or make any promise to pay.
